Ron Williams was born and reared in Columbia County (Winfield), Florida. He is the son of Ms. Emma
Parnell Williams and the late Mr. Maderian Williams. Ron is also a descendant of Mr. Pompey Parnell
who was born in Darlington County South Carolina in 1806. Pompey Parnell was a slave who came to
Florida with his owner, Mr. James T. Parnell, around 1856. They settled west of the Winfield Community
and put down roots.
Ron Williams is sixty-eight years old and is a graduate of the Richardson High School class of 1962. He is
married to Gwendolyn Griffin Williams, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Griffin of Ft. White,
Florida. Ron and Gwen have three children: Quinetta, Ronald II, and Corey. They also have six
grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ron is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he
serves as lay speaker and usher. He has been the County Commissioner for District One for more than
thirty years and serves on many boards and committees for the county.
Ron is an avid outdoorsman who loves hunting and fishing. His other great love is coaching young
people in football, basketball, and baseball which he's done for more than thirty five years.
Gwendolyn G. Williams was born August 19, 1948, in Ft. White, FL. She is the daughter of the late Calvin and Carrie Griffin; She has 6 other living siblings. Gwendolyn is married to Commissioner Ronald W. Williams they have enjoy life together for the past 4 decades. They have 3 children; Quinetta, Ronald W. Williams III, and Corey Williams. They are the proud grandparents of 6 grandchildren; Alvin Bradley, Danielle Williams, Jevon Williams and Calieb Williams. They are also delighted great grandparents of
Ava Bradley.
Gwendolyn attended Lake City community College and has been employed by the North Florida-South Georgia Veteran Medical Center for 35 plus years as a Senior Accounting Technician.
She was appointed to the Lake City Medical Center Board of Trustees in 2008 and served until 2011. She is a member of the Northeast Florida Leadership Council, NAACP, Women’s Club, Exclusive 22 and Versateers social clubs, and Zumba Dance Class. She has also worked as a Trainer/Recruiter for the Guardian Ad Litem as a court appointed child advocate.
Gwendolyn is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she serves as a Lay Speaker, The Chairman of the Race and Relations Committee; Finance Committee, United Methodist Women, Choir, and Evangelism Team.
Come watch the parade scheduled for Saturday, Feb 18th, beginning 10:30 AM on South Marion Street in front of Dept of Transportation. The parade travels north on Marion then west on Duval Street to the School Board Administrative Complex.
