A Civil War lecture will be given at the Main Branch library in downtown Lake City at 2pm on Sunday, February 8, 2015. James Broomall, Assistant Professor of History at the University of North Florida, will present a lecture on the Civil War era. The public is invited to this free event.
The program is funded by a grant from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History as part of their Civil War 150 initiative.
This will be the program portion of the Friends of the Library's annual meeting. Refreshments will be served.
Professor Broomall earned his Ph.D. in History from the University of Florida. He has done extensive research into the manuscript sources of Southern men and women during the era of the Civil War and Reconstruction. He has published several articles and essays in scholarly and popular form, and presented portions of his research at national and regional conferences.
