Dr. Fields has appeared at a number of reenactments and Civil War events throughout the country. He is a retired school principal and Curt and his wife Julia live in Collierville, Tennessee. It is a suburb of Memphis. He has his own Facebook page where he describes General Grant's campaigns, and later as President Grant by himself. He actually favors General Grant in his uniform appearance. His personal and professional exchanges and banter, should not be missed.
Some of the appearances over the years where he has portrayed General Grant include:
The official General Grant for the Sesquicentennial celebrations of: Ft. Donaldson, Shiloh, Vicksburg, and Appomattox. Along with Thomas Jessee (local Commander of the Confederate forces at Olustee Battlefield) , he was on C-span live for an interview following the surrender ceremony at Appomattox for the 150th anniversary of the surrender. As General Grant he was featured on the Discovery Channel 3-part series, a guest on Visitors Centers films shown at Appomattox National Historic Park and the Dover Hotel in Fort Donaldson National Battlefield. He was also featured on four national magazine covers for the Appomattox event. Curt is the official General Grant for the U.S. Grant Boyhood Association in Georgetown, Ohio. He was President Grant for the opening and dedication of the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library at Mississippi State University on November 30, 2017.
It is an honor to have Dr. Fields in our community. We look forward to his sharing some of his knowledge about General Grant, the Civil War, and Grant as the 18th President of the United States of America.
